 Furness Sub - Aqua club's,   B.S.A.C 61.

Furness Sub - Aqua club was formed in the mid 50's. With just a few founder members, doing their early basic training in Cavendish dock.
They carried on in the depths of winter using only jeans and woolly jumpers to protect them from the cold.

F.S.A. C is affiliated to the British Sub - Aqua Club.

The club today runs with a nucleus of about 50 members, the membership coming from all walks of life, all with the common interest in going diving.

 

 

Getting Started

I' very simple to join, simply, just turn up at the leisure centre at Barrow Park on a Tuesday at 8 o'clock, were you will be warmly met by the members of the club.
We run a try dive program were you can have a taste of diving be for you decide to join.

The try dive is basic courses were you are given an insight in to the cost, time, equipment, training, that's required in becoming a diver, it's duration being approximately 3 hours in duration.

 

TRAINING

Once you have had your medical and paid the joining fee your ready to start diver training.
Our dedicated team of B. S. A. C qualified instructors will take you through a structured training program, involving both practical and theory lessons.
When all the pool-training sessions have been completed and the practical test passed your ready to then progress to open water training.

The club tries to dive every weekend all year round and in the summer midweek dives are also arranged.
Most of the training taking places in ConistonWindermere, and Wastwater.

The lakes/ fresh water diving cannot compare to diving in the sea, and in the summer months we try to get out into The Sea locally as much as possible.
Trips away are also organised as well to places like Scotland, diving areas such as The Sound Of Mull. The small Isles,
St Kilda, and St Abbs.
Other places out side Scotland include the Farnes , Devon, southern Ireland, and The Red Sea
